6 Baby Items You Actually Need!

Knowing what to buy when you’re pregnant is probably one of the most difficult task. Especially if it’s your first. Their are so many things to choose from, so many suggestions, and so many things that do the same thing but are somehow different than the other thing.

Plus, the price! Most baby products are NOT cheap and the ones that are super cheap can be questionable. We thought we were so prepared before Colt’s arrival but almost every one of my ‘favorite’ items were purchased AFTER his arrival. Yep, I didn’t realize how much I needed it until it was realllly needed.

Let’s get to it!

I’m going share with you SIX. Yes, I’ve narrowed it down to just six. I know you’re taking in so much information so I wanted to keep this one simple and to the point.

These 6 items made Colt’s first year sail so smoothly. Smooth sailing is what we need in this mom life. I know they say “a smooth sea never made a skillful sailor” but listen, your sea is gonna be rough in all other aspects of your life; so let’s work to make one part of it as smooth as possible. Even the most skillful sailors need a little break from time to time!

Before we get into this let me tell you, this post contains affiliate links. This mean that if you make a purchase through these links I may receive a small commission, at no cost to you! All of these opinions are 100% my own!

I’d only recommend the best! I have used every single one of the items as you will see because I’ll insert pictures of my baby boy using them!

Okay, enough of the jabbering. Let’s get to the reason you came here!

#1. Boppy Lounger Pillow!

Let’s not get this one confused with the Boppy Nursing Pillow (which is awesome) but this is different.

Click the link to view it in Amazon. It’s offered through Prime!

We used it from day one! The sides are all raised so it keeps baby nice and cozy in the center. It’s so convenient to lay baby in your living room! My favorite was putting it on our bedroom floor while I did my make up in there! We loved this thing!

Pics above of my cutie using it! It was has his favorite hang out spot.
-Disclaimer: you should never leave child unattended in this! Also it states NOT to place it on beds/ couches. Please use caution and at your own risk.-

#2 Pop N Jump by Summer Infant

Let me tell you, this thing is NEEDED. Do not take that lightly. This is actually something that was a hand me down from my MIL’s neighbor. It was in Colt’s closet for the first 3 months and I didn’t even know what it was. One day, I was cleaning his closet out and opened it and I’m so glad I did.

It’s amazing. It’s light weight, easy to clean, can go anywhere, adjustable, and even comes in it’s on little bag. It’s pretty much like a lawnchair but for a baby.

If you love to travel, go outdoors often, or even just have limited space. This will be a lifesaver. It folds up so easily and is nice and compact. We brought it on every out of town trip we went on!

Colt has outgrown because he’s 18 months now but oh how I miss being able to use it. Also, can we talk about that cute Air BNB we stayed in? If you look close enough you can see a Rooster in the picture. He came with the Air BNB, lol.

I think the Pop N Jump is actually on sale now! Be sure to check it out.

I also think they are offering a 20 percent off to all first time purchasers that sign up for their email subscriptions! Definitely worth it because my next product is through Summer Infant as well!

#3 Summer Infant Baby Pixel Monitor

If you read my blog post Turn Your Baby Into a Pro Sleeper you know that I recommended getting a video monitor. If you haven’t then what are you doing? Go read it! I recommend this monitor there as well.

This monitor is awesome for many reasons. It shows the time and temperature, the bar at the top shows if theirs any sound so if baby is making super quiet noise that you can’t really hear- you’ll know because it’ll change colors at the top, it has a built in red/blue night light, it has a “flash light” that you can turn on from the screen to light up babies room for a few seconds (comes in handy when he can’t find his pacy,) you can also hang it up on the wall or sit it on a desk, you can also talk to your baby on it. I don’t do this much because it creeps my toddler out!

#4 Nose Frida

If you’re thinking what I was thinking when I first realized what this was then you’ve already said “no, not for me, that’s gross” but let me tell you something- use it once when your baby is super sick and you’ll change your mind SO quick.

Nose Frida

My son got RSV when he was just 3 months old. It was the most sad thing ever. We had those normal bulbs to suction his nose and they just were not doing the job. Even AFTER sitting in a bathroom with a hot shower running- (remember that tip!) We went out on a whim and bought this. I’d seen so many rave about it and guess what; IT’S WORTH THE HYPE.

It’s not as gross as it seems and you’re doing it to make your baby less miserable. You change the filters after every use and YES, there is a stopping mechanism that makes the snot stay faaaar away from your mouth.

#5 Haakaa Silicone Breastpump

This one is for my breastfeeding momma’s. This thing is magic. I didn’t get it until my son was 6 months old and that was a HUGE mistake. It’s such a time savor and don’t have to do anything.

HaaKaa Silicone Breast Pump

This pump suctions to you and the milk legit just flows out! I always used it on the opposite side from where I was feeding to catch any overflow. I would fill it up almost every feed! I was getting so much milk just from using this pump during feeds that I didn’t have to use my electric pump anymore.

I wish I would had this from the beginning! It’s definitely worth it!

#6 HaloVa Diaper Bag

I started out with a cute personalized diaper bag that I was gifted. I loved it and it was adorable but it didn’t fit much in it and it was the typical diaper bag style. It didn’t zip and my stuff fell out everywhere.

For mothers day all I wanted was a new diaper bag and that’s exactly what I got!

If you’re debating whether you want a tote style or back pack style bag, I’m going to recommend back pack! So many different compartments and dads love to wear them (because they don’t feel like they’re carrying a purse.)

This comes in a variety of colors! 16 to be exact. We have the black one. My favorite feature is the zipper on the back that allows you to unzip towards the middle so that you don’t have to pull everything out to get something from the bottom! It’s a true game changer!

I hope you find your favorite item from my list! Feel free to share so other mothers can get in on these awesome baby products as well. Change another mama’s life 😉
